Lance Brown's Tribute to Will Rogers Honors a Timeless Hero

Brown performs the cowboy songs I and popular music of Will's day on guitar, banjo and ukulele as a backdrop to the performance. His production includes examples of Will's humor and wisdom, along with some historical perspectives on the man and his times. Will Rogers was born on November 4,1879, in Oologah, Indian Territory (now Oklahoma). "My forefathers didn't come over on the Mayflower, but they met the boat." said Rogers.

Aromatherapy is the ancient art and science of using all-natural essential oils, extracted from plants, flowers, and many botanicals to promote good health and calm feelings. Cathy Bargenquast, a certified aromatherapist with a master's degree in psychological research, will help you discover the special scents that enhance your feeling of well-being. You'll also learn how to incorporate healthy alternatives into hectic lifestyles. This workshop provides a blend of the history of aromatherapy, practical information, hands-on experiential learning, and some fun while exploring this special subject.
The workshop size is limited to 15. Please register.

The Friends are selling Entertainment Books again this year. The North and Northwest books are combined into one this year for the same price of $35.00. The book contains hundreds of "Two-for- One" discounts. You can purchase your copy at the Information Desk. They make great holiday gifts!
Senior Citizens' Sack Lunch Travel Program
On Monday, November 16, we'll be going on a spectacular coast-to-coast journey aboard three of America's greatest passenger trains, The Broadway Limited, The California Zephyr and The Desert Wind. The Great Trans-American Train Ride will take you from "Sea to Shining Sea" on a romantic, nostalgic journey aboard the last great passenger trains of the U.S.A. as the sweeping panorama of America unfolds across 3,000 miles of silver rails.
This travel program will begin at 11:30 AM in the Borland Room and last 85 minutes. Patrons planning to attend are encouraged to bring a sack lunch; we will provide the beverage. This program is designed for our patrons 55 years of age and older. We look forward to seeing you!!! Please register.

Again this year the library will be accepting non-perishable food items in lieu of fines beginning Sunday, November 22, and will continue until Friday, January 1. No matter how long overdue, all items will be cleared if brought in with non-perishable food items (at least one food item for each overdue book). Donated food cannot be accepted for lost items or overdue videos. All residents are invited to participate even if they don't have any overdue items. The food will be donated to the Wheeling Township food pantry.

Book Discussion Group!
The next meeting of our Adult Book Discussion Group will take place on Wednesday, November 4, at 7:30 PM.
The title to be discussed will be Mary Todd Lincoln by Jean H. Baker. This biography, first published in 1987, has been acclaimed as an objective and empathetic work about an often misunderstood woman. It is also an excellent history of the era through which she lived.
Join us for an interesting discussion. Copies of the book will be available at the Information Desk four weeks before the meeting. Please register.
